These Velocity AP lowering coil springs are designed as a direct replacement for the McLaren 720S, providing a 22mm reduction in ride height while improving handling, ride quality, and overall stance.

Velocity AP coil springs are manufactured exclusively from high-quality, high-stress X5K spring steel. Although more expensive than conventional steel, this advanced material allows us to improve upon the original McLaren 720S spring design by reducing the amount of steel required per spring. The result is a substantially lighter spring (approximately 30% reduction) with a lower solid height, which increases usable suspension travel. X5K spring steel is widely used in top levels of motorsport, offering proven durability, strength, and consistency under extreme loads.

Beyond superior materials, these McLaren 720S coil springs feature a tapered wire progressive-rate design, which sets them apart from most OEM and aftermarket springs. By using a tapered wire rather than a constant diameter, the spring delivers a truly progressive rate over the length of compression and travel. This allows the spring rate to increase during hard cornering, while remaining compliant over uneven road surfaces, giving the best of both worlds, performance and comfort.

This unique design delivers a substantial increase in spring rate and handling performance without compromising ride quality. As the spring de-rates, the shock absorber operates more effectively, improving rebound control, vehicle stability, and overall driving dynamics.

Benefits

  • Reduced overall weight
  • Improved ride quality
  • Sharper handling response
