Founded 2009, experience since 1994
Established in 2009, SB Race Engineering was founded by Stuart Bitmead, whose passion for sports and racing cars inspired him to create a company dedicated to delivering a complete service for their owners. Over the years Stuart has carefully assembled a team that brings together a wealth of experience in both modern supercars and classic cars. Today our reputation attracts clients from across the world who trust us with their most prized vehicles.
Our expertise stretches back to 1994, working with world-renowned marques such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Lotus. Motorsport involvement at that time included the TVR Tuscan Championship, Lotus racing and the Ferrari Challenge series.
With over two decades of specialist knowledge, particularly in Ferrari and Lamborghini vehicles, our background includes time spent in the Ferrari specialist network as well as bespoke private client projects. In 2000 Stuart also managed the workshops at Eurosportscars, then the official Pagani Zonda importer, further expanding our capabilities.
Since then SBR has been entrusted with servicing, restoring and preparing some of the most significant vehicles in the world, from iconic 1950s Ferrari road and race cars to today's cutting-edge supercars and Le Mans GT racers.
Alongside our heritage in servicing, our racing team has delivered consistent results, earning multiple championship wins and podium finishes in the Pirelli Open, British Championship and British GT Cup, as well as outright victories at the world-famous Goodwood Revival. In recent years we have celebrated an overall championship win in the British Endurance Championship with our Ferrari 488 Challenge car, which also secured GTC class victories in the British GT Cup in both 2020 and 2022.
We are one of the UK's leading independent specialists, fully equipped with official-level computer diagnostics and tooling for modern Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren servicing. From our dedicated workshop in Buckinghamshire we provide a complete range of services for performance car owners, including specialist Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren servicing, classic car restorations, vehicle enhancements and full track preparation.

- 1994
The team's experience begins with Ferrari, Lamborghini and Lotus servicing, and motorsport in the TVR Tuscan Championship, Lotus racing and the Ferrari Challenge series.
- 2000
Stuart Bitmead manages the workshops at Eurosportscars, then the official Pagani Zonda importer.
- 2009
SB Race Engineering founded by Stuart Bitmead.
- 2011
Takes delivery of the first customer-supplied McLaren MP4-12C, becoming the first independent McLaren specialist. Later also the first customer-supplied P1.
- 2012
Moves to the Watford workshops, home for the next six years.
- 2013
Starts producing parts with 3D scanning.
- 2016
British GT Cup GTC class champions with the Ferrari 458 Challenge.
- 2018
Moves from Watford to new premises in Aylesbury (July). British GT Cup GTC class champions with the new Ferrari 488 Challenge.
- 2019
Britcar Endurance Championship overall champions with the Ferrari 488 Challenge.
- 2020
British GT Cup GTC class win with the Ferrari 488 Challenge.
- 2021
Prepares and runs the first customer Brabham BT62 to race; British GT Cup GTO class champions with the BT62, the 488 and the McLaren MP4-12C Can-Am.
- 2022
Moves 528 feet into the larger workshop at 4-5 Edison Road (December). British GT Cup GTC class win with the Ferrari 488 Challenge.
- 2023
Dedicated sales office opens under Jeremy Warrant; online shop launches; Redesign Sport's Dafyd Richards joins under the SBR banner.
- 2025
UK agent and distributor for VelocityAP (October); Moorgate Finance partnership (December).
- 2026
Supplying and fitting Tubi Style exhaust systems (July).

SBR Engineering's workshop is in Buckinghamshire, 35 minutes from the Oxford junction of the M40. By train we are five minutes from Aylesbury Vale Parkway, on the main line into London Marylebone.
