The Capristo Exhaust for the Ferrari 355 offers a refined sound below 4000 rpm, making it ideal for everyday use without being excessively loud. However, when the valve opens, it produces an exhilarating high-pitched howl and an F1-style scream, earning its reputation as the world's best exhaust system for the F355.
The system comes in three volume levels. Level 1 provides a moderate sound increase over the stock system, maintaining a nearly standard sound at low rpm but becoming wild above 4000 rpm when the valve opens. Level 2 offers a fuller and louder sound at low revs, while Level 3 makes the car very loud at low revs. All three levels produce the same high-rev sound, as the upper channel is completely un-silenced for a direct exit.
Constructed from ultra-high grade T309 stainless steel for both the 2.7 and 5.2 models (with or without heat protection), the F355 system is significantly lighter than the stock exhaust. Its double-skinned construction and superior flow capabilities mean less heat retention within the exhaust. This reduction in backpressure allows the engine to breathe more efficiently, especially at high rpm, resulting in a power gain of approximately 18 bhp.
Additionally, a racing version of the Capristo exhaust is available for the 355, along with catalytic replacement pipes, sports cats, and exhaust valve kits.
